Neil Gamm
editThere is reference to "Neil Gamm's List of Forgottonia Counties" but no reference to who he is and what kind of expertise he provides on the topic. The name seems out of place without citation, would be better imho to provide more detail on Gamm or remove the reference totally. Just seems confusing and not up to the standards of other wiki articles. 65.191.89.158 (talk) 18:23, 24 March 2010 (UTC) Casual Passerby
WIU & four-lanes
editIt's also worth noting in the Origin section that Western Illinois University is the only school in the state university system that doesn't have an interstate leading to it or right by it. NIU, SIU, EIU, U of I at Champaign, U of I at Chicago, ISU all have interstates leading through their city, right by their city or leading to a major 4-lane road where the campus is just 20 minutes or less away from the interstate turnoff to that road. --Thirdmoon 22:40, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- Good point. Illinois Route 336 will provide four-lane, 65 mph access to Macomb from I-74 at Galesburg and I-172 at Quincy, but will not be completed for some time. --Belgrano 14:56, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Combine maps
editCombine the two maps, or put the one showing the Forgottonia definition first. Jidanni 05:53, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
- I removed the Military Tract map, changed the link in the article body so that it leads directly to the map within the Military Tract main page, and put the Forgottonia map in the top. If anyone wants the old map back, they might consider moving the Military Tract discussion down in article body, so the Forgottonia map can stay in the lead. --Belgrano (talk) 15:40, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
State spending
editThis is a good article. I grew up in Forgotonia, (Schuyler County) and never knew the historical antecedents to why it became such a backwater. What really accounts for the spending discrepancy between those inside and outside the area though is Chicago. Chicago is the City/Tail that wags the State/Dog. This pattern plays itself out all over the country where a single city so dominates the entire state that the rest of the population is essentially a second class citizen when it comes to the allocation of resources.JPZingher 19:57, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
Original research?
editThere's a lot of info about highways and passenger trains serving or not serving the region, but there doesn't appear to be anything actually linking this to the state of the region. --NE2 23:08, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
