• Lead: You give Regina Marina in Italian, but then Sardinian Navy in English. I would have thought Regia Marina Sarda (Sardinian Royal Navy) would have been more appropriate.

• I'd throw in a piped link where you say "unified" to Italian unification
  • Good idea
• I'd change the "both" in "until both were withdrawn from service for use as training ships" to "they", simply to reduce the repetition of the word in over those few sentences in the lead.
