Smith Island link
editThe link to Smith Island in the "Cape Fear River" section goes to a disambiguation page, but I can't tell which Smith Island is the correct one. Gmarsden 01:10, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Largest Amphibious Landing Prior To WW II?
editThe article doesn't give the size of Union ground force. Was this really the largest amphibious landing (of US troops) prior to WW II? Was it larger than Scott's amphibious landing at Vera Cruz ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Veracruz
Perhaps it was the largest opposed amphibious landing of US Troops prior to WW II.
Alternative image
editI have recently uploaded this colour lithograph of a painting by Julian Oliver Davidson, perhaps mistakenly identified as "Capture of Port Fisher" rather than Fort Fisher. It may also pre-date the image currently featured in the article and may be more suitable as a main image, particularly if a derivative is created which is cropped of printer's marks.
