remvoed edit: Fort Gibson School Shooting
edit[citation needed] On December 6, 1999 Seth Trickey, age 13 armed himself with a 9mm semiautomatic handgun and opened fire of 15 rounds at Fort Gibson Middle School, injuring four classmates. The shooting brought national attention to the town, whom denizens mourned together in the tragedy and how the gunman could received psychiatric help.
The news media covering the story described Fort Gibson as a primarily white small town of traditional conservative values, despite the fact locals claim more American Indian heritage (also it had Oklahoma's first Polish cuisine restaurant) and Fort Gibson along with Muskogee became a bedroom community for urban professionals work in Tulsa 40 miles to the north. + 71.102.5.183 (talk) 20:52, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
