Contested deletion
editThis article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because the article is about a major company listed on the New York Stock Exchange that produces very well-known products. Its products include brands that have Wikipedia pages themselves (e.g. Master Lock and Moen faucets). Any relative paucity of RS material written about the company up to this time is clearly simply due to the fact that it is a new company that was recently created (on October 3, 2011) as a spin-off. Moreover, I am reasonably certain that a variety of RS material does exist – the problem is simply that no one has bothered to go looking for it to improve the article. — BarrelProof (talk) 17:25, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

– Fortune Brands Home & Security is the current company and primary topic. RebekahL FBHS (talk) 14:11, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose 1st The defunct company gets more pageviews, current company falls short of primary topic. [1] Move Fortune Brands to American Brands (as it was known for most of its existence) and make dab at Fortune Brands. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 14:49, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose both. The proposal seems promotional, and is coming from a disclosed-COI SPA editor. WP:DEFUNCTS comes to mind – what matters is historical importance – not just the most current status and what the promoters of the current company would want. The hyphen in the timespan is also contrary to MOS:DATERANGE. The suggestions from 162.208.168.92 seem good. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:40, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose 1st per 162.208.168.92 but fine with a DAB. Crouch, Swale (talk) 09:48, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
Post-move discussion
edit- I don't really like Fortune Brands (1969–2011). It's misleading as a title, as the company was not known as Fortune Brands until 1997. The suggestion of American Brands for the defunct company's article title still seems like a better choice. 162 etc. (talk) 19:47, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
