Projects
editForum for the Future is a part of many large sustainability projects
The Protein Challenge 2040
editThe Protein Challenge 2040 is a global coalition, aiming to answer the question of how to provide the world's population with enough affordable protein, whilst maintaining a healthy environment. The challenge has been "convened and facilitated by Forum"[1] Several solutions have been prepared to tackle the problem including: "encouraging the consumption of more plant-based Proteins"[1] and "Making livestock and fish-based protein production more sustainable"[1]
Feed Compass
editThis project aims to "find better ways of feeding farmed animals and fish that: reduces environmental impact on land and sea, releases land for cultivation of other foods and frees up high quality plant protein for human consumption".[2] Animal feed is vital part of the food industry as it is used to feed the animals that we then eat. However some energy is lost as the energy is transferred from the feed to the animals, this means that we need to eat more meat in order to get the same amount of energy from crops. For more information on this see Ecological pyramids. Current potential solutions include using bacteria, insects, algae or some combination of them to replace the current animal feed and using more precise farming methods so resources are not wasted. I can see why it was removed but I think removal rather than edit was rather extreme. There is useful content here. It is very dicouraging to people to remove useful things which mostly just need a bit of work rephrasing. If it's ok I will edit and repost this when I have time. - Hi Jim Killock I am a new wikipedia user! I don't entirely understand why my edits were removed, I cited sources and gave accurate information is there another problem? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Justaguy5 (talk • contribs) 21:01, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
- Hi there Justaguy5, I think they were removed because they aren't written from a "neutral" point of view. (See Wikipedia:Neutral point of view.) That is, they sound a bit like they are written by someone who is familiar with or involved with the work of the organisation. That may be true, but the information still seems useful to me. When I have a moment I will put an edited version back so you can see what is likely to be acceptable. Jim Killock (talk) 22:15, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback Jim Killock I am currently doing work experience at the organisation and have been researching their projects in order to expand their page with more useful information given their now more notable status. Thanks for helping me out! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Justaguy5 (talk • contribs) 09:27, 28 June 2018 (UTC)
