I restored the history section with modifications of Bert Tyler's edits put more in the wikipedia style and added the source requested by Maramusine. I removed the mention of DKMANDEL as the precursor of fractint because Bert Tyler, the original author of fractint, doesn't remember basing it on DKMANDEL, but did document in his 1993 book that the idea came from a work colleague of his. There is a discussion of these changes with Bert and Maramusine in Maramusine (talk). Also made minor edits to the links (the nahee site is a wonderful and useful mirror of the now-defunct spanky site but is not the fractint "official" home page.) Updated the version numbers to current. Twegner (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 16:19, 18 December 2010 (UTC).Reply

Removed the silly Gentoo plug. Come on.

Cellular Automata's can hardly be described as hacks, video or otherwise. If you don't know what they are, do the appropriate thing and let someone else carry the ball.Hsmyers (talk) 05:39, 19 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm going to remove the "See also" link to UltraFractal. UltraFractal's page is a bit too much like an advertisement for me to feel comfortable with a page about an open source program linking to it like this.--Jtoomim (talk) 00:11, 12 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Removed the link to the Fractint site because there is nothing there now - it is just a holding page with no useful content. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.46.137.51 (talk) 16:11, 11 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

I've added a link to the internet archive's last version. - Shiftchange (talk) 22:13, 11 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Can't we find some way to mention how "stone soup" was a major precursor of Open Source. 86.15.71.99 (talk) 21:32, 15 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
