It seems like a good amount of information found on the web about Mr. Hall comes from a history compiled by Walter Hendrickson in 1956 for the Journal of Illinois State Historical Society (a very reliable source). Hendrickson cites his original sources but they are not cited here. Another Wikipedia editor may find it interesting to track down Hendrickson's original sources and cite them in this article.
