Frank Ryan's Role in Election Disinformation
editThis material keeps getting deleted. It is a historic and important fact about the legacy of Frank Ryan. Please indicate justification for deletion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:5CC:C680:1CC0:B9EA:88E:4706:D5F (talk) 03:04, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
Frank Ryan was among those who spread disinformation in the leadup to the January 6 events. This information was covered in the news, released by him personally, and cited by many including the president of the United States. It is appropriate for it to be a part of the record in his bio. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:5CC:C680:1CC0:FD88:1C18:9ADF:5B82 (talk) 23:08, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
Ryan’s involvement in the lead up to the violent insurrection
editAre we whitewashing his role in inspiring the events that led to the violence on January 6, 2020? The most substantive thing he did in his life was to falsely lead the questioning of the results in PA, using his CPA background as support for his false numerical approach based on bad data. This was a big part of the snowball of questioning and plotting that at least gave hope and comfort to those plotting against the United States.
I won’t make any edits given this section has been edited multiple times. But it seems clear his role in inspiring the insurrection, while indirect, was significant and critical. At that early stage, if enough people had stood for facts and reason rather than the lies then we might never had the terrible events. The president cited him in gathering further support for the attack on democracy.
I will let more experienced editors judge. 70.106.197.78 (talk) 17:42, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- There continues to be editors who are removing this important part of the biography of Frank Ryan. He engaged in the spreading of proven falsehoods. Things that were proven false the same day he first cited them. His statements were cited by Donald Trump as part of his "evidence" that led to violence against the government of the United States. We cannot eliminate this event from Frank Ryan's life story and we cannot minimize its importance to the events of that time. As harsh of an indictment of his character that it may be, in a life that otherwise was unremarkable, it is necessary to never forget his role in those terrible events.
- I added a citation to Ryan's specific statements and their debunking by officials. If more citations are needed about the series of impacts this had, I am happy to add. 24.206.76.49 (talk) 17:08, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
