editThe uncanny similarity between the FIFA hymn and the Soviet anthem is a proven fact and, as such, has a place in Wikipedia. If you are not interested in facts, you shouldn't be interested in Wikipedia in the first place. --66.82.9.85 09:22, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sure you don't mind citing a reliable source for that claim then; also, the way it is currently written, the statement rather reeks of POV. --doco (☏) 10:55, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Any person listening to these two anthems, no matter how musically literate, would be a reliable source: they are so undeniably identical that there is no need to go further than to compare the melody and to analyze the primitive harmonic sequence underlying both anthems (I3, V6, VI3, III6, IV3, I6, II7, V). I am a classical musician (composer, pianist, violinist, organist, and singer) with 30+ years of experience. If this isn't enough for "citation," I don't know what is. The only necessary qualification, perhaps, would be that the FIFA hymn is identical to a part of the Soviet anthem, the latter being a rather lengthy contraption. 66.82.9.77 08:30, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- Find a citable published source as per WP:V and then we'll see. --doco (☏) 10:21, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- The verifiable, citable published source, in this case, would be the Soviet anthem score. Buy it, and see for yourself. --69.19.14.35 16:11, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
