Removing arena and Quebec politician references
editFred Barrett (ice hockey) contains two errors. I'm his son.
Error 1: "Barrett is the namesake of the Fred Barrett Arena in his hometown of Ottawa."
There's a mixup between the Fred G Barrett (Mayor) and Fred W Barrett (Ice Hockey Player). The Fred G Barrett Arena is named after Fred W Barrett's father Fred G Barrett who was a mayor in Gloucester, Ontario (he's listed on this wiki page) that was later amalgamated into Ottawa. Photos and text of the plaque in the arena is available here. Google Street View can be used to see the sign for the arena that includes the G middle initial.
Error 2: "He is the brother-in-law of Quebec politician and author Rodrigue Tremblay."
The family connection is much less direct and likely not worth noting in the article. Rodrigue is Fred's wife's sister's daughter's husband's father. Andrewbarrettca (talk) 20:44, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
- Changes implemented. I hope I got it right. David notMD (talk) 07:32, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks! The text looks good but I'd recommend removing the reference to the book that has the incorrect information about the arena name and possibly replacing it with the page with information about the plaque. I wish there was a more authoritative reference that explains the arena name. Am I right that I shouldn't be making edits to this page as a family member for the person? - As a family member, you are right in understanding that you have a conflict of interest (WP:COI) and as such are advised to request changes on the article Talk page rather than edit directly. David notMD (talk) 03:34, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
