Proposed edits and additions to the article on the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research
editGreetings.
Here for consideration are some proposed edits.
First paragraph: It says, "...and managed by the private contractor Leidos Biomedical Research." May I suggest: "...and operated by the private contractor Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc." The contract is for operations and technical support not management. Addition of Inc. is to show the full name of the organization, which under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (35.017(a)(3)) needs to be "an identifiable separate operating unit of a parent organization." There is a reference to "the campus". Administrative offices of the national lab are now located at 8560 Progress Drive in Frederick MD at the Advanced Technology Research Facility. Additional offices and laboratories are at the NCI Campus at Frederick and at other locations in Maryland and around the world.
Fifth paragraph: It says, "...however, this search was suspended in September 2016.[7]" Most recently, the government announced plans to award a short-term, sole source contract with Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. for this requirement for one base year and up to four, one year options."
Citation number 7 ( Carignan, Sylvia (3 October 2016). "Frederick National Lab's future funding put on hold". The Frederick News-Post. Retrieved 21 November 2016.) is a misleading account of the situation, as noted in a subsequent letter to the editor from the then-director of the NCI Office of Scientific Operations. Details are on the contract re-competition are on the FNLCR Acquisitions Portal.
NCI-Frederick has been replaced by the term "NCI at Frederick".
Thank you for considering these points.
