Born Ruckstuhl
editHe presumably also had a first name. Was it Friedrich? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.189.103.145 (talk) 14:24, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not quite sure about this question, but the article has his name as "Frederick Wellington Ruckstull." He changed the spelling of his last name from Ruchstuhl to appear less German, perhaps he also changed his first name from "Friedrich" . Why French parents would name their kid "Wellington" is interesting, but perhaps when he was born in Alsace it was German? Carptrash (talk) 15:43, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

As a critic
editA somewhat extended, acerbic assessment of Ruckstull's positions ventilated in the Art World (and elsewhere) is to be found in Milton W. Brown, American Painting from the Armory Show to the Depression (1955) pp. 85-87. Brown gives the name as "F. Wellington Ruckstuhl," and emphasizes the reactionary and prudish aspects of the artist's opinions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.17.179.75 (talk) 13:44, 20 July 2019 (UTC)
