This article is just wrong, I think - with the reorganization of the empire, Frederick Augustus of Nassau-Usingen became Duke of Nassau, and Frederick William was Prince of Nassau - Frederick Augustus was the senior ruler, although I guess they were technically joint rulers of Nassau. Frederick William died in January 1816 - he was succeeded as Prince of Nassau by his son, William. Two months later, Duke Frederick Augustus died - he was the last member of the House of Nassau-Usingen, so William succeeded him as Duke.
