Burkes Peerage

In 1974 he bought Burkes Peerage from The Holdway Group owned principally by Jeremy Norman (The Chairman of Burke's). The purchase was conducted through an intermediary. A cockney Englishman, David Haring, acquired a power of attorney from the Baron. When the contract was due for completion, no money was forthcoming. The Holdway Group served a "Notice to complete" on David Haring outside his office in Pall Mall. At the time, curiously, he was in conversation with the actor Terrence Stamp. It appeared that they knew each other as children in the East End of London. It is likely that Stamp affected the introduction to the Baron as they were friends. Eventually, the Baron appeared at the offices of Holdway's solicitors and produced a briefcase of cash to complete the purchase, stating, "I am here gentlemen to save my honor." At no time prior had the Baron been in contact or evinced the slightest interest in the acquisition. It seems that the authenticity of his name was all that was required of him. The mystery of why he agreed to the use of his name remains unsolved.

Drug Trafficking

edit

User Anonymousagain is repeatedly deleting mention of van Pallandt's drug trafficking. Good luck with that, Sweetheart - it's all over the Net, and in several authoritative books, including Nina's danish biography. The tragedy of death, and that of his wife, deserves the truth.
