This article contains a translation of Freiburger Münster from de.wikipedia. |
Dates
editAccording to the german website of the Münster, some of the dates are not correct: The process of buliding started in the 13th century and was not completed before the 17th century.
Quotation
editAccording to the german website of the Münster the correct quotation of Jacob Burckhardt is that he said the tower of the Münster would be "the most beautiful tower on earth", instead of "the most beautiful tower of Christianity".
German translation

- Worth doing because: stub on famous and important cathedral

I've done my best at translating this from de:Freiburger Münster. I missed out a few paragraphs because they were too difficult to translate (the one about Berthold V and "Physik im Freiburger Münster").--Nathan (Talk) 22:03, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- The physics section of the German article is not very encyclopedic anyway. Some of the other sections (architecture and interior) are probably worth looking at for expansion. Kusma (討論) 05:19, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
- Just to mention that the German article has been expanded substantially since the above messages were posted. There are lots more good pictures (bells, floor plan, etc) and much more text, including a table describing the bells. All it needs is an en:WP editor who is fluent in German...

Earliest evidence of railways?
editAccording to Rail transport#Wooden rails, the earliest evidence of railways in Europe is seen in a stained glass window in the Minster. It would be good to have a photo of this window. -- EdJogg (talk) 09:23, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Sorting in bells table
editI made all columns sortable in the table of the bells. The chimes were tricky: I put the octave number first, changed "a" to "h" and "b" to "i", so the octave runs "cdefghi" instead of "cdefgab". Then I changed "1es" to "1dz" to make it sort before "1e", but strangely "1dz" sorts before "1d", so I had to change the latter to "1dm" to make it work. I assumed "h" meant "bes", so I changed that to "hz" (and had to change "2h" to "2hm"). – gpvos (talk) 06:21, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
- Okay, using data-sort-value instead of {{sort}} solved the sorting-longer-strings problem, so the trailing "m" is not necessary anymore. I have changed the note names of the bells now to English, assuming they were in German (which was apparently the case, since the name "h" was used). – gpvos (talk) 09:35, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
