I'll take this one. Parsecboy (talk) 15:31, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
- "was based that" - missing an "on", I think
- Good catch.
- As I recall from Feron's article on Furieux, these ships' superstructures were so narrow that the guns could (theoretically) be fired directly astern, one on either side - might be worth mentioning?
- Caresse specifically says that the turret's traverse was limited to 330°. I suspect that the turret wasn't as wide as that of Furieux, etc., to make that possible.
- No, Feron was talking about the Tempete and Tonnere classes - Furieux had single-gun turrets so that wasn't a possibility - I suspect that the original plan was that they could fire directly astern, but they quickly determined that the blast effects were bad enough that they limited traverse to 330°. Parsecboy (talk) 19:50, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- That could well be the case.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 19:56, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

- Ropp mentions that Tempête was one of the first steel-built ships of the French fleet (along with Tonnere and Redoutable) - might be worth mentioning.
- I'll save it for the class article, which I need to start.
- Didn't we talk about Roche being self-published recently? I don't remember where we landed on that, and I didn't mention it at Talk:French ironclad Surveillante/GA1, the only relevant review I've done of your stuff.
- You did, although I also forget where. The only thing that I've been able to confirm thus far is that he was listed as a translator for the FPDS Newsletter, which isn't quite enough, IMO. But I'm still looking...
- No nav template for the class?
- Not yet. Probably something that I'll do when I get to the class article, along with the proper cats.
- Went trawling through GB and didn't find much of note. Nice work Parsecboy (talk) 17:39, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review. See if my justifications and self-rationalizations are satisfactory.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 19:07, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
