editHi everyone. I created this article, and now it specifically refers to the sector of it's parent company Fresenius AG. I could make it much larger, but I don't remember much. I would love it if you could add and help expand. This article IS missing refrences, because everything is from the account of an employee.
This article needs revision
editHello everyone! I'm working at the Fresenius corporate communications departement. Unfortunately, I must say that this article is rather a stub than a proper overview, although it's about a very large company with more than 100,000 employees. Moreover, a lot of the information isn't up to date anymore. Therefore I'd like to encourage a dedicated Wikipedian to revise the article so that it meets the standards of this great encyclopedia and provides a comprehensive picture of Fresenius Medical Care. Of course, I'd be happy and willing to support these efforts by providing data and pointing out sources. Looking forward to getting in touch with you! Proposed edits to enhance this article
editThis edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Dear dedicated Wikipedia editors,
first of all I'd like to disclose that I am working at FMC's corporate communications department. I strongly support Wikipedia's intention to provide high-quality articles from a neutral point of view and am aware of my conflict of interest. However, this article contains incorrect, outdated and fragmentary information. In order support you with improvement of the quality of this article, I would like to propose the following amendments:
Update this sentence in "Manufacturing": The most important plants for dialyzer production are in St. Wendel (Germany), Ogden (U.S.), Changshu (China), L’Arbresle (France) and Buzen (Japan). Source: https://www.freseniusmedicalcare.com/fileadmin/data/com/pdf/investors/News___Publications/Annual_Reports/2017/FME_Annual_Report_2017.pdf, p. 19
Shift this paragraph from "distribution" to "manufacturing": On 30 October 2006, the manufacturing facility (Fresenius Hemocare) in Redmond, Washington was shut down. Fresenius Hemocare has stopped going by the name Fresenius Hemocare and now goes by the name Fresenius-Kabi LLC. The closing of one of two entities inside of Hemocare allowed for the name change and takes Hemocare from the Medical Care group to the Kabi group.
Substitute the content of the section “distribution” with the following facts:
In North America, Fresenius Medical Care manages the entire value chain – from purchasing raw materials to delivering finished products to customers, such as dialysis clinics, hospitals, and home dialysis patients. In the Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific regions, the finished goods are delivered to regional sales companies and end customers via regional distribution centers.
Since the company’s business does not only comprise the manufacturing of devices, you may consider adding a section about offered services:
Services
The company provides dialysis treatment and related dialysis care services to people who suffer from end-stage renal disease (ESRD), as well as other health care services, described as “Care Coordination”. Care Coordination currently includes the coordinated delivery of pharmacy services, vascular, cardiovascular and endovascular specialty services as well as ambulatory surgery center services, non-dialysis laboratory testing services (until December 2017), physician nephrology and cardiology services, health plan services, urgent care services and ambulant treatment services. Care Coordination also includes the coordinated delivery of emergency, intensivist and hospitalist physician services as well as transitional care which the company refers to as “hospital related physician services.” Source: https://www.freseniusmedicalcare.com/fileadmin/data/com/pdf/investors/News___Publications/Annual_Reports/2017/FME_Annual_Report_2017.pdf, p. 140
Looking forward to your thoughts on my proposal and hope we can enhance the quality of this article together.--Stefanie at FMC CorpCom (talk) 14:40, 7 September 2018 (UTC)

editEdit request partially-implemented
- The directions to
"Update this sentence in "Manufacturing": The most important plants for dialyzer production are in St. Wendel (Germany), Ogden (U.S.), Changshu (China), L’Arbresle (France) and Buzen (Japan)."
could not be updated because no such sentence exists in the Manufacturing section. - The desired sentence was shifted from "distribution" to "manufacturing". A citation needed inline template was appended to this sentence.
- The substitution of content from the Distribution section could not occur because no references were provided.
- The creation of a Services section was considered and declined, as the addition of company written material was believed not to offer an improvement over current content already placed in other sections. Particularly, it is unclear whether these company coordinated services are provided directly to patients as suggested by the proposed paragraph - or, if the company merely manufactures devices, and those devices (and the people who operate them) provide the "service".

editDear Spintendo, Thank you for partially implementing my requested changes. Let me add some comments to the rejected paragraphs:
1. Sorry for being unclear, I’d like to substitute the second sentence of the Manufacturing section with the sentence above.
3. Alternatively, I’d like to propose to substitute the current text with the following (please find source below): The Global Manufacturing & Quality (GMQ) division centrally manages all of Fresenius Medical Care’s activities worldwide in the procurement of raw materials and semi-finished goods, production including quality management, and distribution in North America. Please see the following source: FMC Annual Report 2017 p.22
4. Both is correct – the company does not only manufacture the devices, but also provides the mentioned services directly to patients. Healthcare services accounted for 82% of the overall revenue in 2017 (see Annual Report 2017, p.40).
Perhaps you would prefer to add the following edit: FMC provides dialysis care and related services to people with chronic kidney failure as well as other health care services. The company also develops and manufactures a full range of dialysis machines, systems and disposable products, which are sold to customers in around 150 countries as well as used in the internal health care service operations. FMC’s dialysis business is therefore vertically integrated.[1]
Thank you in advance for considering my comments. --Stefanie at FMC CorpCom (talk) 15:18, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
Latest changes
editDear editors, following the advice of SmokeyJoe on my draft I have added Rice Powell to the main article about Fresenius Medical Care. I hope my editing meets your expectations and the changes are ok. Feedback is much appreciated. Thanks for your support!--Stefanie at FMC CorpCom (talk) 10:50, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
