Plasma

edit

Plasma is simular to FFP but it has some reduction of Factor V as mentioned in this article. However there is also a clinically significant reduction in Factor VIII. Truetraveler 18:17, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Effectiveness

edit

I'm surprised that nobody's said anything about the claims given in the effectiveness section. It's pretty controversial and un-cited. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.104.23.1 (talk) 20:20, 29 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Effectiveness - removed large block of text that didn't make sense there

edit

I reverted this good faith edit by Coopercharli (talk · contribs) which added a huge block of text about Octaplas which was copied directly from a recently-declined submission to Articles for creation, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Octaplas: Indications, Safety, and Molecular Function.

I removed it because it didn't make sense in this section and it was such a huge, out-of-context submission. Experts in the topic should pick through the information and add whatever is appropriate to this or other articles to make them better. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 23:01, 11 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Stability?

edit

I am surprised that there is zero discussion of the shelf-life of this material. Its an obviously important issue. So, if kept frozen, how long is it effective? If data about effectiveness as a function of time or storage temperature are available, they would be even better. I gotta believe that that is available.Abitslow (talk) 00:02, 18 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

User:Kerrylob11 not sure about this bit "Plasma must be ABO compatible with the intended transfusion recipient's red cells.[1]"

Many sources I have red says this is desirable but not required.[1]

What is the page number for the source in question? "MUST be compatible with the recipient's red cells". TECHNICAL MANUAL, 18TH EDITION, CHAPTER 15, PAGE 375. (Kerrylob11 (talk) 20:28, 31 January 2019 (UTC))Reply

Some sources say recommended so adjusted wording.
