Re "FRETILIN's most prominent leader is José Ramos Horta...": Is or was? My impression is that Ramos Horta has distanced himself from Fretilin, but I could be wrong. A-giau 08:05, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Factual Errors in Entry
editThis contains a serious factual error. Ramos Horta left the party many years ago and is a member of Government as an independent. This error points to a lack of understanding of Timor Leste that is evident in the entry's entirely mistaken analysis of the party, especially post-1999. It needs to be entirely written, not just edited.

The Free Aceh Movement leader Hasan di Tiro helped Mathaba and Gaddafi support the Free Papua Movement of Jacob Prai, the Kanak faction in New Caledonia, the South Maluku Separatists, and the Moro National Liberation Front led by Nur Misuari in the Philippines.

The result of the move request was: page moved. Andrewa (talk) 12:27, 7 August 2017 (UTC)
Revolutionary Front for an Independent East Timor → Fretilin – Using acronym per WP:ACRONYMTITLE, because "the subject is known primarily by its abbreviation and that abbreviation is primarily associated with the subject". I would make this a technical move request were it not for the fact that FRETILIN could also be used as the page title. "Fretilin" seems to be most common in long sentences (although FRETILIN is also used), while "FRETILIN" seems to be widely used in the party logos and posters, hashtags, voting ballots and such. I prefer "Fretilin" because it looks nicer for such a long acronym. Uglemat (talk) 22:01, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
- Support per the nominator's rationale, Fretilin is used much more often than the full name. Wikipedia generally doesn't use all caps where the abbreviation is that long. Ivar the Boneful (talk) 07:01, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
- Closing comment: I note this reverses the undiscussed move 23:17, 24 November 2004 Wilfried Derksen (talk | contribs | block) . . (64 bytes) (+64) . . (Fretilin moved to Revolutionary Front for an Independent East Timor). Andrewa (talk) 12:27, 7 August 2017 (UTC)

Party positions?
editThere is no discussion of the party's stance on political issues other than its support for independence. In fact, it hada distinctive stance prior to independence and has had one subsequently. Some discussion of its positions should be added.Bill (talk) 17:58, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
