User:Americanoperastudies - removing sources and conflict of interest

edit

Firstly, a Wikipedia article is not a personal or promotional web page. The removal of a source, especially one by a noted critic (Edward Rothstein), in a noted and reputable paper like the New York Times [1] simply because it was a review partly critical of a work violates a core policy of Wikipedia - Neutral point of view. The review helps establish notability of the opera and verifies the performance at Brooklyn Academy. It also provides further information about the work not available on Wikipedia.

Secondly, I am removing the quote added by this editor which claims that "John Rockwell, writing in The New York Times, named it 'The Best Opera/Music Theater of 1991'." The 'reference' given for this [2] actually says:

"Best Realization of That Clumsy Phrase "Opera/Music-Theater" "Frida," conceived by Hilary Blecher with music by Robert Xavier Rodriguez, at the American Music Theater Festival in Philadelphia. The piece is historically evocative of Frida Kahlo's tortured life and musically alluring as well."

Americanoperastudies created this article, writes articles only on Robert Xavier Rodriguez and his work, removes links to legitmate press reviews on the basis that they are "negative comments" and misquotes other reviews to exagerate critical acclaim. This editor's behaviour is not only unacceptable on Wikipedia, but is also a strong indication that they may be Robert Xavier Rodriguez, or have a close connection to him. If so, they have a conflict of interest. Please read the following before you edit this article again: Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Voceditenore (talk) 01:33, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
