The article states that Attenborough will return as narrator, wouldn't it be more accurate to tell that he will also be the presenter. See, for example, this new article: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/tv_and_radio/article7100160.ece Readroder (talk) 21:05, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it has only recently come to light that Attenborough will be appearing on screen - it had previously been reported that he would be narrating. As the link you provided shows, he has been to the North and South Poles to film for the series, but I have read elsewhere that he will only appear for the first and last episodes, and will narrate the others. The article should be updated to reflect this, and also to provide a lot more details on production - there is an extensive BBC website to mine for information. re "citation needed"

edit

re "citation needed" for the statement "because climate change is affecting landforms such as glaciers, ice shelves, and the extent of sea ice"

Help me here - you think citation for the statements of climate change affecting the landforms or that the series is talking about the issues? thanks, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mabra99 (talkcontribs) 08:12, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

No one ever responded to me so I deleted this "citation needed". All of the evidence for polar changes are already in the wikipedia articles cited. Mabra99 (talk) 17:53, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

edit

An image used in this article, File:Frozen Planet calendar.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: Wikipedia files with no non-free use rationale as of 18 November 2011

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review

In any case are separate images required for both the book and the calendar? the same image is used for both. It also clutters up the page unnecessarily. Stripy tie (talk) 00:23, 24 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Number of episodes - 7 vs. 6?

edit

This section suggests that the first 6 episodes as shown on BBC were aired on the Discovery channel. The Discovery Channel did not air the episode "Autumn"; instead they aired "The Making of Frozen Planet". Also, the episode "The Last Frontier" seemed to become "Life in the Freezer" on Discovery. Were these actually the same? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thisisskip (talkcontribs) 17:34, 1 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Discovery's Summer (especially in the second half) has substantial overlap with BBC's Autumn, and the two episodes end exactly the same way. I don't have access to BBC's Summer, but I assume Discovery's Summer is a one hour merging of BBC's two hours of Summer and Autumn.
Bearing in mind that I haven't watched them both carefully... Discovery's Life in the Freezer clearly covers the same topics and uses much of the same footage as BBC's The Last Frontier, but they're edited differently. It may vary somewhat more than the other Discovery episodes vary from their BBC counterparts, but it's clearly an even replacement.

BBC is broadcasting all 7 episodes:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00mfl7n/episodes/guide

Discovery lists the program as only having six parts:

The seventh episode will apparently not be shown in the U.S. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.87.58.172 (talk) 19:19, 5 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Due to overwhelming support arising from a change.org petition, Discovery Channel has changed their minds and will air the controversial 7th episode: http://mediamatters.org/blog/201112060017 http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5i_Q_6AtBUwovJnKTfSKphyWp9Ivw?docId=37406c1198c645c7b44ae268ba2cce78 130.126.139.230 (talk) 19:34, 6 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Misleading

edit

Article says "topic [of climate change] is frequently debated and its science disputed". Climate change isn't disputed by scientists, even in the US. There should be a reference to who is doing the disputing. This is rather like saying evolution and geology are frequently debated and their science disputed in the US. Well, yes. But only by religionists who think that the garden of eden was a real place and Noah's flood really happened. --174.118.211.7 (talk) 03:06, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Couldn't find that wording, it appears to have been revised. Don't know if there's still a dubious statement on this issue. . dave souza, talk 22:04, 10 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Episode Summaries

edit

These episode seem to copied from the BBC website. Doesn't this breach copyright laws? Frazthespaz (talk) 18:23, 24 December 2011 (GMT)

They should be in our own words, conveying accurately the meaning of the source. Checking and ensuring there's no copyright violation is required. . . dave souza, talk 22:06, 10 March 2012 (UTC)tReply
More than just mentioning animals would be useful. For example, In was trying to locate the footage on the Northern Lights, and came here....no luck.

Synthesis

edit

This edit alleged similarities to an earlier case based only on (rather questionable) sources about the earlier case: it's WP:SYNthesis to put together sources to make an allegation that is not explicitly stated an any source. In view of the WP:BLP issues of introducing allegations about Attenborough, more care is needed. . . dave souza, talk 21:56, 10 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Episode titles

edit

The episode titles are shown in the episodes themselves - is it really necessary to include a disclaimer saying they were taken from the BBC website? We don't do that for, say, Doctor Who. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.3.186.13 (talk) 20:01, 19 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
