Fuck U - Archive Song.

Didn't someone have a song with similar sentiment around about 2007-2008 ? and then his girlfriend (who he originally sang it to) do a song back at him ?

Carl Sagan's explanation of "Fuck You"

edit

"We go to great lengths to deny our animal heritage, and not just in scientific and philosophical discourse. You can glimpse the denial in the shaving of men's faces; in clothing and other adornments; in the great lengths gone to in the preparation of meat to disguise the fact that an animal is being killed, flayed, and eaten. The common primate practice of pseudosexual mounting of males by males to express dominance is not widespread in humans, and some have taken comfort from this fact. But the most potent form of verbal abuse in English and many other languages is "Fuck you," with the pronoun "I" implicit at the beginning. The speaker is vividly asserting his claim to higher status, and his contempt for those he considers subordinate. Characteristically, humans have converted a postural image into a linguistic one with barely a change in nuance. The phrase is uttered millions of times each day, all over the planet, with hardly anyone stopping to think what it means. Often, it escapes our lips unbidden. It is satisfying to say. It serves its purpose. It is a badge of the primate order, revealing something of our nature despite all our denials and pretensions."

Interesting, but this isn't suitable for a disambig page. However, it might be relevant in the article Fuck, or elsewhere. -- Quiddity (talk) 18:37, 5 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fuck YouFuck you – Use proper capitalisation. --The Evil IP address (talk) 11:22, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose; we have no article on the generic phrase (as well we shouldn't). All of the articles this page is disambiguating have proper nouns for titles and use title case. Thus, the disambiguation page should also use title case. Powers T 15:21, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose: the title is already using proper capitalization for the disambiguated content. +mt 21:20, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose to my eye either is correct but it matters not which is used. The only links to here should use a disambiguating redirect, not either of these names directly. Capitalisation makes no difference when typing in the search box or searching. Moving it would improve the encyclopaedia not at all so it should not be moved.--JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 21:46, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

What a disambiguation page is and isn't

edit

MOS:DAB states that disambiguation pages are for links. If there is a mention of an item that is currently not an article, it can be directed to an article that mentions it per WP:DABMENTION otherwise they don't belong on a disambiguation page. Leitmotiv (talk) 21:00, 10 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Both entries are mentioned in their article.
  • "Fuck You", a 1999 song by Dr. Dre on the album 2001
It's a track on the quite notable album, and gives the writers, performers and time of it.
None of her albums have an article so it's not in an album listing but was released as a single
As well as WP:DABMENTION the guideline it gives a very similar example of an entry to create, namely
  • "Switch", a song by Siouxsie & the Banshees from The Scream
Which implies that songs should be mentioned if they are mentioned in an article but don't have their own article (in which case that should be linked instead).--JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 21:12, 10 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I think you misunderstand. Those items can remain in the list, if they are a linked to an existing Wikipedia article that mentions them, since they currently don't have an article solely for themselves. If they are not linked or directed, then they don't belong on a disambiguation page. So if you'd like to keep these on the disambiguation page, you need to link them to an existing article that mentions them. Leitmotiv (talk) 21:14, 10 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
The links to articles are in the entries, copied above, to 2001 (Dr. Dre album) and Anna David (singer), and show up as blue links to me. They are piped as per the guideline.
My apologies sir. I stand corrected. Leitmotiv (talk) 21:21, 10 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

"You" in the title should be lowercase

That's it I just think that "You" in the title should be lowercase 24.115.255.37 (talk) 21:12, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

This was discussed and rejected in § Move request in 2012. I don't see anything significant having changed in the meantime. You could make your own move request, but I don't see that flying. Can't speak for others, but please expect me to oppose. Paradoctor (talk) 21:47, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
