Date?
edit"On the first day of World War II" - this phrase appears at the beginning of para 2 of the 'Herman Göring, Adolf Hitler's political heir' section.
I feel a bit uneasy about this phrase. Germany invaded Poland on 1 September, Britain and France declared war on the 3rd, the US did not enter the war until 1941. Some people will even argue that WWII started in 1937.
So I would say that the chance of confusion is rather high.
All this would be overcome by the simple substution of a date for "the first day of World War II".
The trouble is, I don't know which "day" is meant.

- 1937 - or 1938 with the invasion of Austria - or 1939 springtime with the (downrightly inimical) invasion of Rest-Czechia. Some even have said 1936 (Spanish civil war), but that would be far-fetched.--2001:A61:2162:CD01:2D94:9E38:E33C:C140 (talk) 13:13, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
Notability
editProvided the citations can be substantially improved, I believe the topic of this article is very notable. In addition to being an "event," it is also a text (record) (which, while not falling into a specific category category, nevertheless exempts it from being viewed purely as an event). It is primarily notable based the participants involved (high-ranking officials in World War II). It requires its own article because it does not fit properly into any one of those individuals' articles. 108.222.214.13 (talk) 18:54, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Hermann Fegelein
editThe article says that Hitler had Fegelein shot in retaliation for Himmler's attempt to initiate negotiations with the Allies. The Wikipedia article on Fegelein, however, gives a less exalted reason for his execution: that he had abandon his post at the Fuhrerbunker and was caught at his apartment in Berlin in civilian clothes with a bag packed preparing to flee to Sweden. Thus he was charged with desertion on that basis. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.242.248.88 (talk) 14:16, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
Democratically elected Reichstag president
edit"During the early years of Hitler's regime, Göring continued to pile on titles at will, including President of the Reichstag..."
Göring was elected president of the Reichstag in 1932, by democratic process. 2A02:AA1:1142:B5CE:6551:DD3B:BFF8:2C65 (talk) 08:51, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
