Merger of hepatitis G and GB virus C

The result was merge into GB virus C. -- Scray (talk) 17:00, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
...on this page
editThis page should absolutely be merged with the hepatitis G page. As a reference, the ICTV now classifies HGV under GBV-C [1]. Therefore, HGV should be subsumed under GBV-C (rather than GBV-C under HGV). After many studies, there is now very little evidence to support the naming of this virus as a "hepatitis" virus. ...pasted from Talk:Hepatitis G: Is hepatitis G a real human disease?
editWhile GB virus C is sometimes referred to as hepatitis G virus, that designation is historical. It is not clear whether this virus actually causes human disease. For a review, please see my article:
Lindenbach, B. D., and C. M. Rice. 2001. Flaviviridae: The viruses and their replication, p. 991-1041. In D. M. Knipe and P. M. Howley (ed.), Fields Virology, Fourth ed, vol. 1. Lippincott-Raven Publishers, Philadelphia.
I'd appreciate any input so we can clear this up. --Brett Lindenbach 10:30, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. This page should be merged under GB_virus_C. Scray (talk) 13:17, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
