2013 Russian meteor event YouTube video
editThe popular YouTube video about the Russian meteor is being censored by GEMA, in Germany. This is highly controversial and should be added to Criticism of GEMA. 85.240.144.45 (talk) 05:35, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

Gesellschaft für musikalische Aufführungs- und mechanische Vervielfältigungsrechte → GEMA – The Gesellschaft für musikalische Aufführungs- und mechanische Vervielfältigungsrechte is much more known as simply "GEMA" by English speakers. According to Wikipedia naming conventions (WP:EN), If a particular name is widely used in English-language sources, then that name is generally the most appropriate, no matter what name is used by non-English sources. Most all English sources call the organization simply, GEMA. Billboard, Wired UK, The Guardian, and many other English language sources use the name GEMA, not the full German name. Not just English, but also many German Sources use the name GEMA: t3n, netzwelt, RP Online, Hamburg Abendblatt, all of them are German sources that use GEMA as the name, not the full name. Even the official website uses the name GEMA. I am proposing to move the page to GEMA per WP:COMMON and WP:EN. --Relisted. Cúchullain t/c 19:00, 18 June 2015 (UTC)--Relisted. - Administrator's comment. GEMA is currently a disambiguation page. We'd need to see evidence that this organization is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC of the term "GEMA" to go forward with this move, as the dab page will have to be moved as well.--Cúchullain t/c 19:00, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose primary topic is not shown -- 70.51.203.69 (talk) 06:28, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
- CookieMonster755, I suspect that you're essentially correct, but if the primary topic is unclear, how about GEMA (German organization)? --BDD (talk) 17:54, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
- Yes that could work as well BDD. CookieMonster755 (talk) 19:14, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
- Ok, definitely support that. The full German name is far too unwieldy. --BDD (talk) 19:34, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
