Stroke

edit
"All four low-deck engines have a stroke of 3.8125 inches (96.84 mm) and used 7 inch long connecting rods."

Followed immediately by the first engine described as a "low deck" with a stroke of 97mm? Only three of the four five the stroke as 96.84mm Idumea47b (talk) 01:58, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

"GMC straight six"

So these are not actually all one family of engine, they just happen to be wherever straight sizes were being offered by GMC at various times? Seems like a strange reason to group them all together, and it doesn't make it clear what similarities and differences they have. Some are 4 bearing, some are 7, some are in the 3L class, some in the 7L, I have to assume they have no relationship with each other besides the manufacturer and configuration. But it doesn't make this very clear in the text, or which ones are actually based on the same block. I assume that's what the "Group" is. But doesn't Wikipedia mostly group engines based on common engineering families, maybe broken into generations if there is a significant change at some point, or a redesign?
