GParted
editGParted (http://gparted.sourceforge.net/) is not GNU Parted ( http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/parted.html), so GParted should have a page alone instead of being a redirect to GNU Parted. (Sorry, forgot to sign this comment) QuimGil 07:44, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
Limitations
editOn every PC I use gparted, it takes 5 minutes to scan all devices (1 or 2 disks with each around 5 partitions). When doing an operation, after the operations it starts scanning all devices again, again taking 5 minutes. Is this a serious limitation of parted? Other tools (commercial ones though) don't need minutes to scan all devices, they show the list of partitions immediatly and don't do any scanning process after an operation either.Lodev 18:33, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
I've used it for a few years, always from Ubuntu though and didn't really have this problem. Well yes, it does scan the drives after committing a sequence of 1 or more operations but that takes only 5 to 20 seconds. 80GB + 500GB hard disk with around 7 or 8 partitions total, NTFS, FAT32, ETX3, EXT4, UFS. My other experience are the Microsoft tools fdisk and "disk management". But if you can find a reference that this is an issue, please add it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.101.173.84 (talk) 20:42, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
