GPKISM, GPKism or Gpkism
editI have compiled the following from edit summaries and a user talk page:
- For GPKISM
- I have spoken to Kiwamu and Ken about this. GPKism is incorrect. GPKISM is correct. - 02:51, 17 February 2009 user:Xunkatc3 (talk)
- For GPKism
- per capitalisation rules (-ism is not part of the acronym) 16:29, 15 February 2009 user:Notjake13
- the standards on Wikipedia are not to follow the band's wishes, but to universally apply English grammar. In this case, there is no reason for "-ism" to be capitalized, as it is not an acronym, and has no reason to be capitalised, other than stylisation. If you would like to read into the rules in this area, you can access handy guides at WP:MOS-CAPS, WP:MUSTARD and WP:MOS-JP. It would be helpful if you could correct your own edits, but I'm willing to help if you need a hand. Happy editing! -user:Notjake13 03:25, 17 February 2009
- per Wikipedia's Capitalization Guidelines, see WP:ALLCAPS and WP:MOSTM for confirmation. - 03:58, 4 November 2010 user:Denaar
However, MOS:CAPS says that for acronyms, capitalising part to show the origin of the acronym is not desirable. Therefore GPKism seems completely wrong. In any case user:Notjake13 contradicted himself on whether it was an acronym at all.
An internet search finds mainly GPKISM, and occasionally Gpkism, with only a few for GPKism, and although the latter include notable sites – Wikipedia, Flickr and Facebook – they are not reliable sources.
If other editors are sure that GPKISM is not allowed here, then Gpkism has to be the way to go. - Fayenatic (talk) 22:39, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
