What's happened?

edit

Is this series now defunct? The official website has not updated since the beginning of year, so is the series no more? Were there any races in 2012? What's the official situation? Anybody got a clue? Officially Mr X (talk) 17:01, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes, the series was cancelled for lack of interest. Pretty much a precursor to the fall of GT3 a year later. Everyone preferred to go to Dutch GT4 or British GT instead of traveling to both countries back and forth like they did in 2011. The359 (Talk) 22:04, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Splitting proposal

edit

This article should be split into GT4 European Series for the motor racing series and Group GT4 which redirects here which explains the GT4 category in a page similar to Group GT3 and TCR Touring Car. --Falcadore (talk) 10:05, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

My only concern is that I'm not positive if they are actually called Group GT4. Initially, there was much confusion after the formation of Group GT3 and then Group GT4 that they were both FIA categories, but GT4 is not an FIA regulated category. Other than that, I agree that the expansion of GT4 globally requires two separate articles. The359 (Talk) 23:57, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Since no consensus was reached, I'm removing the suggestion tag. -- Mikeblas (talk) 00:53, 14 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Agree Group GT4 is not the correct name. However, it is a notable SRO class rather than a notable FIA class; and SRO refer to it as "GT4 Grand Touring" in formal homologation documents. So perhaps we could go with that? There is no article with that name at the time of writing.Zaack23 (talk) 16:47, 14 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
I've since noticed that "SRO GT4" is very widely used in plaintext in articles about related topics, and the choice of articles to link it to (if linked at all) is erratic, probably because there is no obvious article. (GT4 European series was by far the most notable series when the class was launched but that's simply not the case in 2022) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zaack23 (talkcontribs) 11:43, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I also agree that the GT4 class should receive its own page, and SRO GT4 seems like the appropriate name for it in my opinion. Robin tales fighter (talk) 21:44, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have created a draft page at Draft:SRO GT4, based on the early version that was in my sandbox, as suggested by @Robin tales fighter - all please feel free to edit it in draft space until we get a bit closer to AFC quality. Zaack23 (talk) 19:06, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Addition of Images to the Wiki

edit

Hi! I would love to add images to the article to fill in those cars that are missing from the regulations (I guess some people are trying to split the article to make a global SRO GT4 article in which will categorize these cars so if anyone ever ends up doing that then feel free to use the images).
