Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 2 external links on Gabion. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

"King John Gabion/Gabious"

edit

Hello all- The above names are given in this article as the inventor of the gabion, but there is no reference, and a quick search I just made comes up with no such historical figure. Anyone know about this? Eric talk 16:06, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, it's either a hoax, or vandalism. Nuked. Anmccaff (talk) 16:50, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Oh, man, I wasn't paying enough attention to spot how recent that material was, d'oh! Thanks! Eric talk 18:28, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
No chahhhge. (Why yes, I am a NewEnglanduh; howdja guess?) I don't think any damage was done; the fake surfaced briefly with a single Google hit, and has disappeared since. Anmccaff (talk) 19:10, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Fifty-year lifetime compared with 1961 installation?

edit

The main web page says that gabions were "completed from 1957 to 1965 on North River, Virginia and Zealand River, New Hampshire". Note 6, substantiating this, was from 1961. The main web page suggests a 50-year ["structural consistency of 50 years"] lifetime. Have these gabions thus disintegrated? If so, are there any web links to this falling-down-ness? Enquiring [inquiring?] mind[s] [mostly mine] wish to understand this issue. Should I attempt to communicate with someone in Virginia or New Hampshire about this? If so, with with whom do you recommend that I initiate my query? Any assistance would be appreciated. CaptainSleaze (talk) 03:31, 2 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Why are gabions be used in preference to other materials, e.g. concrete or brick? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.159.200.25 (talk) 16:45, 1 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
