Years of Service
editThe beginning of his years of service is given as 1983 but he graduated from the Naval Academy in 1987. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the time you spend attending a military academy doesn't count as "years of service." After all, there have been people who've dropped out of such academies (I myself have a cousin who left the Air Force Academy to go to Cal Tech).
