Gaddani or Gadani
editThese two spellings are used interchangeably in references and online sources, and are both mentioned in the article on Gadani. For consistency I have used "Gadani" in this article as that is what is used in both Gadani and Gadani Fish Harbour. I am not suggesting this spelling is preferable, only that we should probably use the same spelling in all similar articles and as the others use the single 'd' we may as well use it here.
I have also moved the article to the standardized spelling of Gadani, and without the upper-case letters for "ship-breaking" or "yard". While these words describe the activity they do not seem to be in common usage as a discrete name (the "Gadani Ship-breaking Yard" as opposed to the area in Gadani used for ship-breaking). The lower-case capitalization would therefore conform with WP:NAME, which says not to capitalize second and subsequent words in names unless they are always capitalized in common English usage.
Of course, I am happy to discuss any of the above if there are opposing views. Euryalus (talk) 01:51, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with the above. The more widely used spelling is "Gadani", and not "Gaddani". Poloplayers (talk) 13:17, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
