Your work if very good and appreciated. It was necessary to add the template because, based on spot checks, it appears that the only source is the Kibbutz itself. Also a problem for WP:COI and see also: Wikipedia:Independent sources. Thanks! HG | Talk 03:49, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
You are correct - my only source is the Kibbutz Gal On website. However, I completely rewrote all the information in my own words, which I do not believe to be plagiarism. I also do not believe this to be a conflict of interest, as the information placed on their website was placed by the kibbutz historian. In response to your concerns, I have added a reference section to the article, in which I included a link to the Kibbutz’s history. Is this sufficient? I am relatively new to Wikipedia and I truly appreciate your constructive criticism. Peace. Notecardforfree 04:21, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps I spoke too soon. I see what you mean about using independent sources. However, I know for a fact that everything listed in this article is verifiable and true. I propose this compromise: I will publish my own history of Kibbutz Gal On, and then I will have another editor cite my work as a secondary source. This should fix all the problems. How does this suit you? Notecardforfree 04:48, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oops, missed your comment above. In wikipedia, verified means that you find an outside source, like Israeli newspapers or history books that describe Gal On. I don't know if you're yanking my chain about another editor citing a contrived source. You'll find all that and more here. Take care. HG | Talk 05:02, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Welcome and hope you have fun here. Please, this isn't criticism of your work. It's just that an article is generally supposed to have more than one source. Plus, an article about an entity is not supposed to rely entirely on the reporting of that entity. See links above, also WP:Sources. Also, I most certainly am not implying that you have plagiarized. (However, as a college student, you should be cautious. If somebody handed me this as a paper, it would not be accepted because it is not the student's own intellectual work. But our situation here is different.) Finally, the kibbutz historian has a conflict of interest, presumably to present the kibbutz in the best possible light. Anyway, my advice would be to move on to other articles and leave this as is. Hope this is helpful and enjoy! HG | Talk 04:58, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
