Merge with Galant?

edit

The page needs Wikifying work but aside from that, shouldn't it be merged with Galant? Schissel | Sound the Note! 19:48, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

It certainly should be merged with Galant. Please discuss at Talk:Galant#Merger proposal. --FordPrefect42 (talk) 10:12, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Take the material you presently find at Galant, put it into the article Galante music and rewrite Galant to make it fit for entire fashion of Gallantry in the arts and conduct. --Olaf Simons (talk) 09:22, 5 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Late Baroque Era?

edit

"In music, galant refers to the style which was fashionable from the 1720s to the 1770s. This movement featured a return to simplicity and immediacy of appeal after the complexity of the late Baroque era."

This seems incongruous.... the very definition of the "late Baroque era" would be 1720s-1750s. 31.54.39.113 (talk) 11:56, 23 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Why do you think so? Late baroque in music is usually defined as ca. 1680–1730. See Baroque music.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 16:29, 23 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
