Counters

edit

During the late 70's Mars produced a rival to the Button and branded them Galaxy Counters. However these were tested in the North West of England only and were found to be unpopular.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with the above. I lived in a tiny village in West Wales throughout the 1970s and we loved them. I now live 350 miles from there - in Durham - and people here also remember them. Bring back Counters!

The above text was moved here from the article as it is a discussion, not factual.--81.105.251.160 12:13, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

You can still GET Galaxy Counters. I've seen them this year and even in previous years. Just check your supermarkets. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.229.24.156 (talk) 11:47, 18 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dove

edit

I'd guess that the reason Mars don't use Dove as a brand name for chocolate in the UK is that it's already a well-known brand name for soap. (No trademark issue, but "does it taste of soap?" is not really what you want your customers thinking.) Azz 16:28, 17 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I live in the PRC, and they have Dove chocolate here. It most certainly isn't the same chocolate as Galaxy found in England, the latter being *much* more creamy. I wonder what evidence there is to justify the statement that Galaxy and Dove are the same product.

NOTE: Singapore also has Dove chocolate.

I'm not sure why they would choose to use a different name in the UK, but here in the US, we have Dove chocolate and Dove soap. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.185.113.118 (talk) 19:02, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dove should become Galaxy as Dove is not made correctly due to idiotic rules in the USA, —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.152.212.238 (talk) 20:41, 27 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Merge tag

edit

Galaxy has been a very popular mainstream chocolate bar in the UK for several decades. If Galaxy and Dove are going to merge, then the Galaxy article is staying. Otherwise, keep them both. If you don't know first-hand, then research this product's popularity in the UK and then decide if it ought to be merged. The products aren't even the same, they taste different. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.98.32.99 (talk) 02:41, 14 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've flagged this using the advert template, as it looks suspiciously like a direct copy from a corporate press release... Mittfh 23:52, 12 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Controversy

I've flagged this using the NPOV-section template, as this section of the article is more like a (poorly) written opinion piece than a genuinely neutral and factual section. bradpeczka 13:01, 13 October 2010
