"First to identify Persepolis"

edit

See Talk:Persepolis#Self-contradiction. Seems to be completely false. He may have been the first to transcribe the Persian name for the ruins into a modern European language but that has no bearing on whether someone else had already correctly identified the ruins as Persepolis. Looks like the English already had.

The phrasing here seems even more incorrect, since he didn't identify "Takht-e Jamshid" as anything. He talked about the ruins as "Chilminara". — LlywelynII 18:36, 29 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Latin work

edit

This—Totius Legationis Suae et Indicarum Rerum Persidisque Commentarii—is also given under the title ...Commentarios and neither seems to actually exist. He seems to have kept a notebook in Spanish—entitled at one point Commentarios de Don Garçia de Silua, que Contienen Su Viaje à la India y de ella à Persia...—and (like Wicquefort states on his title page) that Spanish text was the basis of his French translation, the first version of this book to be published. — LlywelynII 23:46, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
