Sassette

In the 6th paragraph it's said that Sassette is Gargamel's daughter/creation. Didn't the smurfs themselves create Sassette? "(It is worth noting that he does love at least one Smurf, his daughter/creation Sassette who refers to him as "pappy Gargamel.")" Think it was Nat, Snappy, and Slouchy that created her.

I thought it was Smurfette that Gargamel created. The other Smurfs turned her into one of their own by the overwhelming Smurfiness of the Smurf way of life.

Do we really need to mention that Seth Green voiced Gargamel on a parody show? If so, does it have to be in the same sentence as the original voice actor (with no mention of Robot Chicken's satirical nature)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.1.4.143 (talk) 07:02, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

TV show vs. Comic

There really needs to be clarification about what medium Gargamel appears in. Is he solely a character in the TV series, or did he appear in the comics as well? More broadly, this is all written from a within-universe perspective - there should be more context about the creation, etc., of the character. john k (talk) 15:40, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

enmity

the cartoon had a different reason for gargamels's hatred towards the smurfs. when he was young he saw one and nobody believed him. as a result he became a laughingstock and was thrown out of his magic acadamy. he then attemptrd to capture one to prove he was not nuts. but each attempt was thwarted and led to him blaming the smurfs for all of his woes.

Gargamel and Azrael

An editor has removed part of an edit I made, claiming "antisemitism" and claiming that what I added was not public information, despite being clearly expressed in the source immediately following it:

Jewish streotypes

I deleted the chapter because it is based on a booklet from 2011 that claims that the smurf village is a communist colony, Papa resembles Stalin and Brainy is Trozky - Article in The Guardian. Also, Azrael is not an angel of death in Jewish tradition, and Hat-hattul is the invention of the modern Hebrew translator (nice invention). Since the smurf writer was Bellgium, the name is more probably derived from Gargamelle, the giantess mother of Gargantua. La Nave Partirà (talk) 06:37, 13 August 2023 (UTC)

Not a "booklet", a book, which received extensive media attention at the time, including, for example, in top publications such as the WSJ and the Telegraph, and continues to generate media attention even today. And while the book discussed those ideas, it was be no means their originator - this discussion is decades old (see for example here and here). You may refute the claims off-hand, but you can't deny that there is some strong controversy surrounding the character of Gargamel.
