Article problems
editThis reads like an assignment for class, and includes first person writing. blu_rav3 22:14, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
Alumni
editMy gut reaction is to remove the alumni entry:
- Eraj Akhtar - The Antichrist
However, if this person is actually in a band by that name or whatnot, please respond here letting me know. Otherwise, please do not readd him, as he is non-notable. --Danaman5 02:21, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
To the best of my knowledge he's still at school. They were all basically BS except for the first few. I'm currently unsure if any of the Power Rangers actors went to school there. I know some lived in the area, and my dad tells me that I apparently met the 2nd Black ranger when I was younger, but I don't know where they went to school.
More sources, more references, more accurate information.
editWe need to actually find evidence that these facts people claim are true. For example :
"Garland High School, which was founded in 1901 (the official date, although the actual date is disputed)"
Is there a source on that? There is a tone of uncertainty in that sentence. Also:
"although some evidence suggests that the school started in the late 1900s."
'altough some evidence'? What evidence? More references would be most helpful. Xdetri 6:50, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
As far as the age of the school, a friend and myself have been trying to determine some of the construction history of the building. In the trophy case in the commons, there is a commemorative plate with the different school buildings etched on it, but that would obviously be hard to cite. I will be at the school for fish camp and I'll try to take a picture of the plate to document some of the information on it. -Joe
"...is the oldest of the district's high schools (and the best)..."
Is there any proof of it being the best? User:Saibird69 8:25, 26 January 2007
There is no definitive proof, but Garland has been ranked the highest by Newsweek as far as public high schools in the nation go. Garland also has the most state championships and district championships in many sports. -Joe
P.S. Joe=OwlAg 00:43, 6 June 2007 (UTC) if you would like to talk to me...I had not registered when I wrote that.

Assessment
editI am assessing this article as C / Mid. Could become B-class with some work. The aritcle clearly has a history of WP:NPOV issues. The article appears to better than it was, though some statements such as The school attracts many students from around the city because of its variety of rigorous academic programs and history. are still problematic. The lead needs to be a bit longer, as it should both introduce the article and summarise each of the sections per WP:LEAD. The school has a very long history (over 100 years) but the article has a very brief history section, more is needed on what happened to the school between 1903 and 2001. The academic programs section is okay, though prose with context is better than lists. Some more information on extra-curricular activities would be good other than athletics. A sample of the school song is great, but a bit of written information should be added as well. The article has some gaps in referencing, most noticeably in the notable alumni and athletes sections. References should also use citation templates such as {{cite web}} as much as possible. I am giving the article Mid importance due to the school's age and the alumni. Dashing Debs Has its own section?
editI don't understand why the Dashing Debs has their own section... they aren't a major part of the school... they should be put under a category of extra-curricular activities and beyond that a lot of the information in that section is not important at all.
