Just a note, guys: the top Brazilian statistician and historian Domingos Duilio Martino, tells me that 'some sources say Garrincha was born on 28 Oct 1933, but his most probable birth date is 18 Oct 1933.' Worth a footnote...? Cris Freddi —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.45.193.152 (talk) 13:47, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Garrincha's dog
editIt's a popular legend (at least in the UK) that the stray dog that came onto the pitch in the 1962 WC game between Brazil and England was adopted by Garrincha. See Jimmy Greaves and http://www.garrinchasdog.com/about/ Is there any truth in this legend? Jooler 15:04, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Its not mentioned in Alex Bellos' Futebol: The Brazilian Way of Life, which has a chapter devoted to Garrincha. Oldelpaso 15:55, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

learning difficulties
editI read that his footballing contempories in Brazil described him as child like and that he had a learning difficulties, with a mental age of about 12. This became more of a problem once he had quit the game and he was unable to comprehend the consequences of his actions, such as driving when drunk. Can anybody confirm this82.42.121.120 (talk) 11:08, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
