Steve & Garry "reuniting" rumor

edit

Hope not to offend anyone, but I think it's premature (unless someone has solid evidence) to suggest that Dahl and Meier are reuniting. Maybe it's a trifling distinction, but Meier and Dahl did not "reunite" in the complete sense of the word. Meier stopped by Dahl's remote broadcast. There's no reason (yet) to think they're getting back together. If I'm wrong, please feel free to correct, but please also support with sources. - Chabuhi 23:35, 18 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I "stole" this link from the Steve Dahl wiki page. I wasn't sure who added it to that page, but thanks! - Chabuhi 21:12, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Article has been locked with a statement of opinion in the second paragraph. Request that my edit be used as the final version. WinSmith 19:30, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not done Whenever an article is protected in a dispute, it is always in the Wrong version for someone. The point of protection is to force users to discuss and gain consensus/compromise, not so admins can continue the edit war as proxy editors. Mr.Z-mantalk¢ 19:36, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I acknowledge the statement of opinion (perhaps remove just that?) in the 2nd paragraph. That was not added by me. However, user WinSmith has been repeatedly removing the name of Garry Meier's former partner, Roe Conn, whom he had a well established partnership with for 8 years. This is a significant part of Meier's biography and Chicago radio history and should be included in his biography. 216.138.167.94 19:40, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Then I request a source for the comments "After a lengthy contract dispute..." and "...leaving many fans disappointed." If these statements cannot be sourced, they should be removed. WinSmith 19:42, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Maybe there is something in this article. Jauerback 19:44, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Nothing concrete there. Can we not agree to take the opinion out of the article? Let it stand as a statement of fact about a person's career. The history of edits to this article, including malicious statements about Meier, his program, and his family proves that people are still playing sides and attempting to manipulate the facts according to their petty biases. WinSmith 19:49, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Subheading of the article states, "...14 months ago, GARRY MEIER left the airwaves in a contract dispute..." That part of it seems pretty concrete to me. Jauerback 01:32, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
User WinSmith may (or may not) have a legitimate point regarding some opinion in the article but his history of edits, especially early on, are ONLY to remove the name of Garry Meier's former partner, Roe Conn. This radio partnership spanned 8 years of a highly successful show and is a significant fact in Garry Meier's biography. Removing factual information like this is vandalism. 216.138.167.94 19:51, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
My edits are based on the original biography which clearly stated and continues to state Meier's affiliation with WLS-AM. His various partnerships, sidekicks, news and traffic reporters, etc. may or may not be relevant depending on your perspective. Regardless, let's focus on the issue at hand and not get off on tangents. I'm also loathe to take criticism from an anonymous poster. WinSmith 20:08, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I find your ending sentence humorous. As of now, you have one more edit than the anonymous poster (22 vs 21), and every single of your edits is in regards to this article. 216.138.167.94 has at least touched one or two others. You don't have a user page, so how are you any less anonymous? Jauerback 01:38, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

let's focus on the issue at hand
I find this statement to be ironic since your edits to remove the name of Garry's former partner was my whole point. Every edit you made prior to July 2nd was only to remove the name of Roe Conn & the name of their 8 year long, successful, radio show together, both being factual & relevant information in a biography of Garry Meier. Hi, I tried to clean up the sources being cited in the article using various citation templates. There was some inconsistency in how the dates, etc. were being entered. I just chose the DD MM YYYY format for dates for the sake of consistency. If another format is preferred, then please change accordingly. Marchjuly (talk) 02:02, 29 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Since this is an article about an American radio personality i believe either the all numerical (YYYY-MM-DD) or the US style date format (Month Day, Year) should be used per MOS:TIES. Since the "Month Day, Year" format is used already used in the article, it might be preferable to use the same format for the references as well per MOS:DATEUNIFY. I am interested in hearing what others think, so please discuss if you have a preference either way. Thanks in advance. -Marchjuly (talk) 01:18, 14 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Podcast

edit

I removed the section "Garry Meier Podcast" because it was unsourced and a bit promotional in nature. The purpose of the article is to reflect what independent reliable sources say about Meier, not promote whatever he' s currently doing. This can possibly be re-added if a reliable source can be provided in support. Ideally a secondary source is preferred, but a primary source may be OK per WP:BLPSELFPUB. Regardless, no external link should be included into article; it me possibly be added as part of the citation or to the "External links" section . -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:15, 13 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Citation date format

edit

The date format used throughout the article should be consistent per WP:DATEUNIFY, but currently the article uses the American "Month-Date-Year" format while the citations use the British "Date-Month-Year" format. Since Meier is an American radio personality and the article seems to use American English, the citation date format should probably be changed per MOS:DATETIES. I'm posting here instead of being bold per WP:CITEVAR, but such a change should not really be something that's controversial. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:02, 31 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
