In the section titled "Personal life" there is an error in the sentence: "In 1997, Busey underwent successful surgery remove a cancerous, plum-sized tumor from his sinus cavity." It should say "to remove a cancerous..." The word "to" was left out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:b8f3:50e0:d042:f6e:44cd:e4b (talk) 02:42, 14 September 2017 (UTC)
Draft?
editFor a person born in 1944 who dropped out of college, the draft and the Vietnam War were the main issues of his youth. Was Busey deferred because of marriage plus a child? Was he physically unable to serve for some reason? A biography has to reflect the historical backdrop, so some information in this regard would flesh out the bio. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.44.153.18 (talk) 03:38, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Brain damage
editThe personal life section states "Busey was severely injured in a motorcycle accident in which he was not wearing a helmet. His skull was fractured and doctors feared he suffered permanent brain damage.[3]"
The linked article makes no suggestion that Busey may have suffered permanent brain damage in the crash, it is about his advocacy of wearing a helmet when cycling, skating or riding a motorbike following his recovery from a brain injury. I'm not saying it isn;t true, just that the link doesn't support the statement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.56.118.95 (talk) 22:49, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Behavior
editI don't want to appear sympathetic to a man who starred in an Anti–American film, but the "Career" section seems to be biased against Busey. In that section, his "peculiar behavior" is mentioned as the reason that Dr. Pinsky recommended that he be seen by the psychiatrist, Dr. Charles Sophy. Is this a subjective statement that results from an editor's point of view? Busey's behavior, to me, is completely rational, mature, and intelligent. Considering the abuse that he seems to tolerate, he might have the most admirable character of anyone in Dr. Pinsky's group, including Dr. Pinsky.Lestrade (talk) 16:44, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Lestrade

- Because it looks downright hideous. He looks deranged. Technically its a good shot for wikipedia - right at the camera, closeup, and not copyrighted, BUT if anyone has one along those lines in which he doesn't look...like that... I'm sure it would be preferred. It was hard to read the article when all I could think about was that picture. 24.107.190.142 (talk) 21:21, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
- This is Gary Busey we're talking about. He's probably best known for looking deranged. In fact, people probably know that face much, much better than they do his name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.41.122.148 (talk) 04:57, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- Deranged would be fine, but I have to agree that another pic might be better - he doesn't look so much deranged as undead and deranged. It's a pretty creepy pic, even for him. Jedikaiti (talk) 04:09, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

I was just watching first episode of HBO's Left Behind and it was mentioned that Gary Busey was one of those that disappeared during the rapture and a man said he could understand the popoe but not Gary Busey. Then someone said it was not for us to understand. Assistance please
edit{{helpme}}
I tried to replace some material that had been removed about Gary's stay at the rehab center - a part of it had been deleted, and the article no longer made sense. Unfortunately, a user who has recently gotten rollback reverted the edits and accused me of vandalism without reading the edit summaries or looking at what I had done. I know I will be violating 3RR if I go back and fix this again, even though I am correct in wanting to make it better - but will not risk being blocked. Can someone (preferably an admin) take care of this? Even if all the info on the rehab stay and the Depakote is removed completely, at least the article would make more sense. Okay? Thank you. This is vandalism...right?
editI think its pretty obvious that someone has vandalised a link to Buseys official website, because currently what the link takes you too is something called "timecube.com" which is basically a massive anti-american rant that looks like it has been written by a two year old. 91.110.56.183 (talk) 00:10, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

First mention of brain injury doesn't make sense
editWhen discussing Busey's work with Dr. Drew there is mention of his possible brain damage, but until the point there is no mention of his motorcycle accident (the assumed cause of the brain injury). This is confusing and should be reworded by somebody more familiar with editing wikis. 71.10.74.4 (talk) 23:55, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- That confused me, too. I knew nothing about Mr. Busey before I read this article, so when I got to the line in "Career" that says, "Sophy suspected that Busey's brain injury has had a greater effect on him than realized," I was confused. What brain injury? Then I saw that the next section, under his personal life, mentions his motorcycle accident. I think I'll change the wording, though I haven't decided the best way to word it, yet. Cancer?
editIn his appearance on Celebrity Apprentice sunday, Gary Busey claimed that his eye was swollen as an aftereffect of having cancer. Did he? Guy Macon (talk) 04:25, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Yes, he had a malignant cancer in his nose and sinuses, IIRC. Weird it isnt mentioned in this article on him. http://www.homegame.org/HG/spotlight/gary/ After experiencing a series of nosebleeds, last May Gary found out he had sinovial cell sarcoma maximal sinus cancer. The fact that his cancer was malignant could have caused Gary to waiver dramatically in his faith. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.91.70.120 (talk) 17:55, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
Not killed on Gunsmoke
editThe current career information concerning the TV series "Gunsmoke" should be changed or deleted. Busey's character "Harve Daley" was not killed in "Gunsmoke" episode number 633 titled - "The Busters". He wasn't even shot. The last person killed was John Colicos as "Judge Flood" in episode 631 - "Hard Labor". (Colicos is better known for his role as Klingon "Commander Kor" in Star Trek episode 26 - "Errand of Mercy"). Oddly though, in this episode, Busey's character seems to hurt his head while riding a bronco. In the last minute of the last scene, he is holding his forehead with his left hand. It's strange how an actor's part can sometimes seem to be a foretoken of future events. Mayor Hog (talk) 02:38, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Edit re Trump support
editI changed the wording in the personal life section discussing his support for President Trump. Wikimedia received an email expressing disagreement with the use of the word "endorse".ticket:2017051710018712
I do note that the supporting reference uses the term "endorsement". However, is not everyone knows, articles are written by reporters but headlines are written by headline writers — in theory the headline should reflect the contents but in practice the headline is not fully reflective of the article contents. In this particular case the reporter did not use the word endorse anywhere in the article and most importantly, the quotes from Busey, while supportive of President Trump never use the word endorse. I think the word "support" is a more neutral term reflective of the article.--S Philbrick(Talk) 16:45, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

HUGE RANGER FAN
editi was unaware that Gary was such a die hard Ranger fan, until i had a nice run-in encounter at this weeks Ranger Islander game. He was with some chick which i assumed to be his side piece. Unfortunately Gary did not have such a splendid evening. Some drunk islander fans were Yelling at him for being Gary and telling him to do obscene things sexually. one of them had said "suck ma taint hole Gary." i truly could not understand why things like this were happening but i decided to just sit back and watch. i wish you were all there to see this massacre of Gary. The night did however, end well with the delightful islander fan attempting to purchase Gary a cotton candy (pink flavored). But Gary respectfully declined because hey, hes Gary Busey and Gary dont take no handouts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.38.34.18 (talk) 14:28, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
Strange wording
edit"In 1997, Busey underwent successful surgery remove a cancerous, plum-sized tumor from his sinus cavity." I would like to add "On December 4, 1988, Busey was severely injured in a motorcycle accident in which he was not wearing a helmet. His skull was fractured, and doctors feared he suffered permanent brain damage.[21]" to the opening paragraph. This is useful and necessary context. Phantomred (talk) 08:18, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
- Not done: It is already included in the "Personal life" section. Not every detail of an article subject's life makes it into the lead paragraph. According to the Manual for Style for lead sections:
The lead serves as an introduction to the article and a summary of its most important contents.
It would be difficult to substantiate that one motor vehicle accident almost 30 years ago is one of the "most important" things about Busey. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 22:38, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
Odd claim
editThe statement: "This return to Christianity occurred as a result of his motorcycle accident." makes no sense as written. It sounds like the accident crashed him "back" into Christianity. Isn't there a better way to word this sentiment? 98.194.39.86 (talk) 20:52, 2 January 2018 (UTC)
- That isn't really what the cited source says either, so I re-worded it just now. ~Anachronist (talk) 22:49, 3 January 2018 (UTC)
- I'm not sure that's entirely incorrect. I've personally heard several people cry out after crashing a motorcycle something to the effect of "Jesus, please help me! My leg is off!" Usually, after the limb(s) is/are re-attached, the affinity for religion also wears off over time. But that's just my observation. 98.194.39.86 (talk) 04:50, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

editSeveral of the movies are linked to the wrong articles. I found (but did not fix) the following errors:
South Beach links to the place in Florida. Warriors links to what a warrior is. Sticks and Stones links to the children's rhyme. Suspicious Minds links to an article about a song of that same name. Detour leads to the article about alternative driving routes. The Girl Next Door leads to an article about a porn star (Stacy Valentine). A Crack in the Floor is listed twice (once as 2000 and again as 2001).
