Feedback from New Page Review process
editI left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: This is a recreation of a previously deleted page here. Notability is uncertain. I will restore the notability questioning tag as the page creator removed it without explanation.
Notability
editTo editor Jw93d59: the notability of this article was questioned on November 20th by @BoyTheKingCanDance. There were also issues raised in the earlier deletion discussion here with comments from @Funky Snack, Rillington, Phil Bridger, Bearcat, and Jo-Jo Eumerus: Rather than removing the notability tag, please explain here how your recent revival of the page and edits satisfy the prior issues. This page, and not your talk page, is where it is best to have the discussion. Ldm1954 (talk) 13:37, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- Jw93d59, you do not make a radio personality notable enough for a Wikipedia article by referencing it to content self-published by his own employers, such as his staff profiles or past program logs — a source only builds notability if it represents analytical coverage about him in a third-party media outlet fully independent of his paycheque providers.
- That is, you do not make him notable for having been a host on BBC Radio 1 by referencing that claim to the Beeb; you make him notable on that basis by referencing that claim to journalist-written coverage and analysis about him and his work in sources independent of the Beeb (such as The Times or The Guardian). You do not make him notable for having appeared in a documentary film by referencing that statement to the film; you make him notable for having appeared in a documentary film by referencing the statement to journalist-written coverage and analysis about the film in sources independent of the film.
- We're not just looking for simple verification that he exists, we're looking for evidence that his work has been externally validated as significant by people without a vested interest in it. Bearcat (talk) 14:26, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- I have made changes to the article - is the article now problem-free, or is it too reliant on non-broadsheet, non-academic sources (at present, none of the sources are broadsheet newspapers or academic in nature)?
- I think there are now few sources which are financially connected or have been financially connected to Gary King - I have got rid of the references to the Totally 80s/90s pages on the shows' production company's website, because it is widely known within the industry and easily obvious and evident to the public that King presents the shows and that the shows are broadcast on several non-BBC radio stations in the UK. I have not got rid of any banners. Please advise on next steps. Jw93d59 (talk) 15:42, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- Apologies for the silly reply to myself! - I replied prematurely and to the wrong person. I have in the past hour made 2 sets of changes to the article - is the article now problem-free, or is it too reliant on non-broadsheet, non-academic sources (at present, none of the sources are broadsheet newspapers or academic in nature)?
