This is Jody Plauche. I made only a few small changes to the Wiki page. I thought it was well done. 184.46.92.148 (talk) 23:48, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

NPOV concerns

edit

Given that Gary Plauche's actions by any objective standard qualify as a extrajudicial execution, there is going to be debate over the appropriateness of them. There is currently nothing in the article about the debate that went on at the time and even today over the whether his actions should be excused given what Plauche was accused of doing to his son or whether vigilante/extrajudicial killing is always wrong (no excuses), especially in this case given that Jeff Doucet had not yet been convicted of the crimes he was accused of (with jailtime the appropriate punishment to deter other would-be-vigilantes. --Notcharliechaplin (talk) 22:56, 27 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

He was tried for the crimes he was accused of, sentenced and paid his debt to society.
If you dont like it then you should address your concerns to the DA with jurisdiction and of course feel free to speak up in defense of child predators all you like. FAFO. 2603:9006:100:A9EF:454:EDB8:FF8:2571 (talk) 19:07, 15 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Plauche was a hero, and Doucet got what he deserved. The judge should have thanked him for his exemplary public service. 2601:647:4D81:4206:C161:FCE0:A332:AD05 (talk) 23:39, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
There's also the concern of people continuing to edit "American man" to "American hero" in the first paragraph. Looking at the history, this has happened repeatedly - to the point that this page might need to be considered for a lock. Komkast22 (talk) 04:31, 15 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Agree, semi-protection would be a good idea. MaligneRange (talk) 08:07, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I honestly don't care about the debate at the time (or the debate now, if any). I want the facts of what happened: not random options from people whose opinions mean nothing. I want to know what the judge thought.
If the debate at the time ultimately influenced something like an important Supreme Court decision (or something similar {which it didn't}) then sure… include it.
Otherwise, no one cares about what some random people thought in 1984 (even if it was televised).' 69.144.90.45 (talk) 02:48, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

"Plauche was accused of doing to his son" - I think you mean Doucet. Also, this wikipedia page is not for debating if what he did was right or wrong but rather to tell the story of what happened. Your clear bias for Doucet has no place on this page - maybe make a page for him and try to write your thoughts there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 154.5.95.130 (talk) 14:25, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Requested move - January 2, 2023

edit

I think it would be better to move this article to "Murder of Jeffery Doucet" and expand this article beyond Plauché and include further information on Doucet. What do y'all think? Knightoftheswords281 (talk) 04:05, 3 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Gary PlauchéKilling of Jeffery Doucet – The central event of this article is more important than the individual who did it. I suggest renaming this article to "Murder of Jeffery Doucet" and moving biographical information about Gary Plauché to a specific section, as well as including info on Jeffery Doucet.
Alternative: Gary PlauchéKilling of Jeff DoucetKnightoftheswords281 (talk) 22:23, 28 January 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Wikiexplorationandhelping (talk) 22:18, 7 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Oppose. A title with both names would be best. AliceXongile (talk) 02:34, 4 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
