editDon't delete - a notable family with lionks with USA/ Ireland/France etc. Retain & improve! Johnbibby 09:03, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- No sources, no hint in the article of why this family is any more than one landowning family among thousands - not very persuasive. Of course I don't want to delete an article that could be made genuinely useful - but if you think this is a properly notable subject, please try to do something to it soon, as otherwise I am going to take it to AFD: in its present form it just looks like non-notable genealogy, of which there is far too much.HeartofaDog 02:41, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- I don't have time to do it myself, but I can tell you there are many books written about this family and at least one PhD - lots of interesting architecture too. (If you want to delete, why not start on some of the completeloy un-notable baseball players etc who nobody outside their fanclub has heard of & who will be forgotten in 20 let alon 200 years: this family has been going for 400 I think .... :)
- WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. There is far too much genealogical padding on Wikipedia. It was you took this article off PROD, so I think it's up to you to show why that was justified ("he who says A..."). If there are so many of these sources, it shouldn't take you long to come up with half a dozen, but if you're not prepared to, why should anyone take your unsupported word for it? While of course you may well be right, there's nothing in the article as is to show why this family is notable in the Wikipedia sense - just being somewhere for 400 years isn't enough and not every family in the "Landed Gentry" is automatically noteworthy.
