Gaurishankar or Gauri Shankar?
editThis page was formally at Gauri Shankar which I created on May 8, 2004. On May 17, 2015 Suntalkha moved the page to Gaurishankar without any discussion which, given the page's long history at the other name, should have taken place first. I cannot recall exactly what I based the usage of Gauri Shankar on vs Gaurishankar (perhaps I saw it on a map, not sure really). Searching the online version of The American Alpine Journal finds more hits on Gaurishankar vs Gauri Shankar but this shows that the latter does have historical references to it. One finds Gaurishankar in the Himalayan Index but not Gauri Shankar. I don't have access to Jill Neate's book so cannot confirm which spelling she used. Given the apparent dominance of Gaurishankar in the AAJ and only that name being found in the HI, I am inclined to let the redirect stand although it would be interesting to see what maps from different publishers show for the name. - Also page move did not move page history or project boxes which I have now done. Marqaz (talk) 21:36, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
