Further reading section too long

edit

There are currently 24 entries in the "Further reading" section. I don't think so many suggested readings are useful for readers who won't know where to even begin. Surely this section can be trimmed? Bennv3771 (talk) 17:52, 20 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Added Bangladeshi case

edit

I just added the 2016 death of Xulhaz Mannan as a case worth profiling. There is already a tag on the page to globalize this as right now it focuses on the United States even though this is a global issue. Blue Rasberry (talk) 11:24, 14 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Article attempts to redefine "violence"

edit

The "implicit homophobic/transphobic violence" section redefines violence to something it's not. The true definition of violence is as follows: "behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something."

I recommend a word such as "bias" instead since that's what it's really talking about. Redefining words like this will lead to confusion and a misrepresentation of facts. With "violence" defined so broadly, saying someone committed an act of violence against an LGBT person, loses its meaning. 108.26.206.115 (talk) 09:36, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Proposed split of LGBT bullying

edit

Based on an abundance of available sources, I think LGBT bullying clearly merits its own article. Spinning off the lengthy section from this article seems like the best place to start. That would leave this article as primarily consisting of two summary-style sections, one on Violence against LGBT people and one on LGBT bullying.--Trystan (talk) 16:28, 5 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

I have proceeded with the split.--Trystan (talk) 18:22, 11 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
