Geauga lake area → Geauga Lake – No reason to say "area" in this title. However, there is a redirect in the way. D O N D E groovily Talk to me 03:01, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
- Comment there is a merge request to merge this into the target of Geauga Lake, so why not just do that instead? Also, is there an actual lake? If so, shouldn't the lake take that location over the area surrounding it? 76.65.128.198 (talk) 06:29, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
- There is the geographic location and there is a theme park. In my view, two completely different things. D O N D E groovily Talk to me 11:26, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Requested move 2016
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Moved to Geauga Lake (lake) as uncontroversial. Closing a little early because the only votes about making this the primary topic are oppose. No need to continue the discussion. (closed by a page mover) (non-admin closure). Anarchyte (work | talk) 10:16, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Geauga Lake (Ohio) → Geauga Lake – This article title makes no sense; its purpose was to dis-ambiguate it from Geauga Lake, which (until I moved the page) was the title of an amusement park. This dis-ambiguation makes no sense because the amusement park is also in Ohio. Georgia guy (talk) 19:18, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- Opppose The amusement park and the lake are both called "Geauga Lake", but the amusement park is easily the better known usage of the term. That's why the lake was put where it was, similar to Brady Lake (Ohio), which has the same name as the village (Brady Lake, Ohio). For WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, "Geauga Lake" is referring to the amusement park even 9 years after it closed. It's rarely ever referring to the body of water. If using "Ohio" as the disambiguation isn't preferred, that's fine (see the previous discussion about the page move), but "Geuaga Lake" should not be a disambiguation page or point to the lake itself. --JonRidinger (talk) 19:41, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- Comment. Please note the part of this requested move JonRidinger ignored, which is the final sentence in my request. The amusement park is also in Ohio. I strongly support that if the consensus ends up as having the lake's page dis-ambiguated, it should be titled Geauga Lake (lake). Georgia guy (talk) 19:49, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- Comment I did not ignore the last statement, since in my opposition, I addressed a similar issue with Brady Lake (Ohio) (the lake) and Brady Lake, Ohio (the village). That was part of what the discussion was the last time this was discussed. --JonRidinger (talk) 22:13, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- Comment. The Brady Lake analogy has a difference. The Brady Lake dis-ambiguation page has 3 uses, one of which is in Texas (as opposed to at least 2 uses, all of which are in Ohio. Thus, it's not a good analogy. Georgia guy (talk) 22:52, 7 June 2016 (UTC)

- Oppose – In addition to what JonRidinger mentions, a previous move discussion supports the amusement park article as the primary topic, which should be titled "Geauga Lake" and not "Geauga Lake (amusement park)". I highly suggest you review the discussion there, and undo the page move you performed. That should have gone through a new requested move discussion. I see no evidence presented that suggests the lake itself is the primary topic. --GoneIn60 (talk) 19:56, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- Comment. See my comment in response to JonRidinger's vote to oppose. Georgia guy (talk) 20:01, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- You are claiming in this RM proposal that the lake is the primary topic, not the amusement park. I oppose that claim. This new, secondary proposal that you've come up with – Geauga Lake (Ohio) → Geauga Lake (lake) – was not specifically mentioned in the original proposal. My vote of opposition does not change as the result of a backup plan being tossed around in a later comment. That's not how this process works. --GoneIn60 (talk) 20:10, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- If there is no consensus for a move following this discussion, the disambiguator "
(Ohio)
" still should be changed as it could refer both to the lake and the amusement park. Move it to Geauga Lake (lake). — AjaxSmack 20:14, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, that would be an uncontroversial move that wouldn't require additional discussion. --GoneIn60 (talk) 20:19, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- Agreed. That should've been the original discussion here, not moving the amusement park article and then bringing it to discussion. --JonRidinger (talk) 22:13, 7 June 2016 (UTC)

- Comment. Silly as it may sound, the lake should be at Geauga Lake (lake)! They're both in Ohio, so the current disambiguator is not helpful in the slightest. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:27, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
