editThis page puts a lot of weight on arguments and theories from particular subsets of feminism while dismissing or outright ignoring arguments made by non-feminist academics and feminists groups outside the ones this article seems to support. TheDracologist (talk) 22:02, 7 November 2016 (UTC)

- I think it is necessary to be more specific and break down the problem into different issues.
- At first glance, at least, it looks to me as if more attention should be given to separating different issues, such as current statistics, historical statistics/development, efforts to change things, research into reasons for any observed disparity, etc.
- There should also be a clear separation between facts stated in Wikipedia's voice and views that need to be attributed and presented in a balanced way.
- It does look to me as if there may be undue weight given to some things. This is probably natural given that this topic may disproportionately attract researchers in gender studies, feminists etc. -- not only on Wikipedia but in the academic community and society at large.
- Care should be taken to give proper weight to the mainstream scholarly consensus (which may very well be more in line with feminist views than opposing views).
- The section on "Psychological differences between genders" doesn't look too hot. The Telegraph is not a particularly good source for this; it would probably be better to go directly to the sources that the Telegraph used; I presume they are reporting on some scholarly research, but the popular press may not be the best intermediary.
- Care must also be taken to avoid original research, including synthesis. We should only use sources that talk specifically about gender disparities in computing, though that could perhaps be extended to include STEM in general, where obviously relevant. --Boson (talk) 11:24, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
Surely this article should be titled 'Gender disparity in US computing'? Or does NPOV not include geographically/socially neutral POV? - Done, that section was basically a preachy pep-talk with no encyclopedic value and reads like an op-ed written by someone trying to summarize the rest of the article, full of weasel words and uncited claims
- "there's a bright future ahead"
- "It's a step in the right direction"
- "They are finally starting to stick up for themselves and get the respect that they deserve"

editThere are some sections of this page that can benefit from more content. An example would be the “Benefits of gender diversity”, as it could use a more diverse range of data. As the section focuses on how gender diversity yields more productivity, whereas there could be more insight drawn from this topic, such as greater gender diversity leading to more conscious and equitable technology. I hope to write more about what benefits of gender diversity looks across different stages of computing education and development and to further expand its impact. Details about edits: I will be adding more information to the following sections: background, gender gap (both subsections), benefits of gender diversity, factors contributing to lack of female participation (subsections: female and male perspectives, barriers to advancement, technological advancements, psychological differences between genders, race). I will also be adding a new section under the "factors contributing to lack of female participation" titled "ethnicity". Overall, I am hoping to contribute more (modern/updated) information, make content more coherent, and fix the writing mechanics. I was glad to see you updated most of the sections by adding new sources that were released in recent years. I was very impressed with your use of resources and the abundance of studies/reports you found to add on to sections. In addition, it was important that you expanded the race section within the article as it is important to acknowledge the intersection between gender and race. My suggested revision for the article is to give it another read to make sure all of your work is cited as I found some sentences that were not. It is important to double check correct citation, so all information can be referenced. Moreover, I would suggest, condensing the subtopics within the "Factors contributing to lack of female participation" heading. This can help group topics together for the sake of easier navigation. Another important revision to make is to add the "alt link" on to each of the images. These were the most important revisions I noted when reviewing the article.
