Lead
- Consider linking minor leagues to Minor League Baseball
- "He lived in Helena, Arkansas after retiring" - Need a geographic comma after Arkansas
- Link rookie
- Last MLB appearance needs cited
- Final MLB statistics need cited
Early life and military service
- Link Missouri Pacific Railroad.
- "Bearden returned to baseball that same year as a part of the New York Yankees organization" - Most recent discussed year is 1949, not 1945, so probably best to give 1945 there.
Cleveland Indians
- "After the game, he was demoted to the Triple-A Baltimore Orioles of the International League, he quit the team after two defeats, not wanting to pitch in International League ballparks as he found them too small" - This reads very clunky with the comma after League. A semicolon or a full stop would be better.
- "On October 8, in game 1948 World Series" - Missing the game number, and if a specific number (Game 1, etc.) game should be capitalized.
- "he also had two hits at bat, including a double" - This doesn't make sense
- "of the National League's Boston Braves" - Move National League's up to where the Boston Braves are first mentioned, and then you can just say the Braves.
- Complete game is overlinked
Later life and career
- "after a 6.15 ERA in 14 appearances, the Indians placed him on waivers" - When? Surely the transaction dates are known
- "In 34 games played" - I've always seen games pitched, rather than games played, for pitcher appearances.
References
- The Neyer/James Guide version that's linked to, the relevant page number for the information it's citing (ref 5) is page 129 not 142
- For the Baseball-Reference citations, you have Sports Reference LLC and Sports Reference, LLC (the comma), this should be consistent.
That's it for the first pass, placing on hold. Hog Farm Bacon 02:02, 28 July 2020 (UTC)
- Issues fixed, thanks for the review. Only thing I couldn't find was the day he was placed on waivers. I did add an exact date for when he was picked up by Washington, and I imagine the release would've been a couple of days before that (he last pitched July 27 so that's a small window). - @Wizardman: - I'm not seeing where his final career stats are cited. They're in the infobox and the lead, but aren't cited anywhere. Hog Farm Bacon 00:37, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thought I did that; added now. Wizardman 00:50, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
